incompatible snapshot with MetaTrader 4

Hello Folks,

I am having a problem with ThinApp when doing a system post-scan after trying to do a ThinApp version of MetaTrader 4 Variant.

(MQL5: automated forex trading, strategy tester and custom indicators with MetaTrader)

 

Tried doing this in 3 different Environments and got the same result. [Screenshot Attached]

 

Have no Idea what causes the Wizard to break when doing post-scan. Tried this on other Apps and it works Just fine. Its just MetaTrader that ends up breaking the wizard.

I also Tried the CLI version of snapshot.exe that seemed to compile a working directory however it does not run after building. I keep getting a no prototype available error when activating log.

 

Any Ideas would be fantastic.

VMware ThinApp Enterprise 5.2.3 trial version license does not work

I started try but license does not work.

Erro displayed:  "the license key entered does not match any licenses"   

 

but I just received:  "Your evaluation downloads are now available. Your evaluation will expire on September 17, 2018. 60 | days remaining on your evaluation"

     I try both...License.png

 


Does anyone know why?

Adobe Flash Player 30.0.0.134 - Issue is No Showing up in "All Control Panel Items" after register the Sequenced application.

Hi Team,

 

I have sequenced Adobe Flash Player 30.0.0.134 application using VMware Thinapp 5.2.2. After sequence application, register the application using thinreg.exe.

The issue is not showing up in "All Control Panel Items" after register the Sequenced application.

Please suggest on this, Thanks in Advance.

Internet Explorer 8 / Windows 10

Hello Guys

 

Is possible run IE8 in Windows 10? I capture with Thinapp IE8 from Windows XP SP3 but not open page in Win10, all page show blank.

 

All Troubleshotting was running but is not possible resolved the problem. I download IE6 Sandbox and not present problem in run on win10.

Install String

Custom Installation Instructions

1.)ThinApp was captured on a Windows 7 32-bit VM. The ONLY software installed on it is VMware Tools. It also has the latest security updates. (Optional updates not installed). .NET Should not be installed at this time.

2.) Copy needed files to Capture VM. This includes the latest ThinApp (v5.2.3), the Horizon Client (v4.8.1 Build 8980186), and latest .NET Framework (v4.7.2)

3.) Download DrainNGenQueue.wsf script from https://github.com/Microsoft/dotnet/blob/master/tools/DrainNGENQueue/DrainNGenQueue.wsf.

4.) Before Capture, uninstall Visual C++ 2008 and C++ 2015 that was installed by VMware Tools. We want these to be captured in the ThinApp.

5.) Start Prescan capture as Administrator

6.) Install .NET 4.7.2

7.) Run the DrainNGenQueue.wsf script. This script will compile the assemblies .NET creates. This is normally done on a reboot. Running this script negates the need for a reboot after installing .NET.

8.) Install VMware Horizon Client as Administrator.

9.) Select custom installation and deselect "USB Redirection". (USB redirection installs a kernel mode driver ThinApp can't capture)

10.) (Optional) If you have Root Certificate authorities need to be captured, now is a good time to install them. For example, DoD users could run InstallRoot to install DoD Root certificates.

11.) Stop Horizon Client services: VMware Horizon Client Service (client_service), VMware Netlink Supervisor Service (ftnlsv3hv), VMware Scanner Redirection Client (ftscanmgrhv), VMware Serial COM Redirection Client (vmwsprrdpwks).

12.) Complete Postscan capture

Note: I was able to get this working based on what I learned from https://blogs.vmware.com/euc/2012/09/vmware-view-client-virtualize-thinapp.html

Opening web pages respond slowly in new tab using ThinApped Internet Explorer 8 or later versions

The Internet Explorer I packaged  whether IE8 or IE9 or IE10, It is very slow to show webpages in a new tab when responding to click the links. But It is normal to direct access by copying and pasting the link to the new tab's address bar.

 

Any ideas?

Changing Printer in Thinapp-package is very slow

I Have made a thinapp package of our Electronical medication system based  on  microsoft navison .

When change the printer this will take very long time (up to more then a minute)

We are using a follow-you Xerox printer with diver Xerox GPD PS V3.7.469.9.0

 

Thinappp-version : 5.2.1

Windows 7 , 32 bit

I have tried different isolation modes on %Common Appdata%

%SystemSystem%\spool is set on Merged

 

Please has some one an idee why this is and how to fix the problem

Office 2016 Outlook - Jump-In/Task links not working

Wondering if anyone can help, small issue we are having with ThinApped MS Office Pro Plus 2016 x86, not sure the correct term for them but the jump-in/task links do not work from the Start Menu:

 

 

When clicked on we get this:

 

 

Anyone else come across this? and possibly have a fix?

Notepad++ 7.5.8 - x64bit compatible with ThinApp sequencing or not?

Hi All,

I’m currently working on Notepad++ 7.5.8 latest version for 64bit target platform(Win 7x64). Hence I’m using x64 bit installer i.e. “npp.7.5.8.Installer.x64.exe”.
I have to sequence this application via Thinapp 5.2.2 sequencer. After sequencing I did not observe any context menu for this application. (Note: Source gives context menu option) While if I create MSI by capturing via Pace suite tool/Install Shield, Context menu appears, but the same when I sequence MSI with thinapp, I did not get context menu. (Which means if I sequence notepad++ using “npp.7.5.8.Installer.x64.exe” or with MSI created after capturing, still no context menu appears).
Also I tried lot many other options to make it work referring some blogs, which gave me no results.
Wanted to know if Notepad++ 64 bit is compatible with thinapp sequencing or not?
Or is there any other solution which gives me context menu same as per the source.

Please suggest.

How to download the new version 5.2.4?

I saw that today (2018-09-18) was released the version VMware Thinapp 5.2.4. I registered to have access to the download. When the download page appeared only old version 5.2.3 was available. How can I access the new version?

What is the status of Firefox and Chrome support with ThinApp 5.2.4?

Our dept was so excited to see the release of 5.2.4 as we have been testing Windows 10 1709 and 1803 build roll outs on limited clients.

 

Importantly, we have been waiting forever to see if there is an update to better support of more recent versions of Firefox and Chrome browsers.

 

Very disappointed not to see any mentioning in the release note for 5.2.4 on this issue. However, has anyone else already have some experience using 5.2.4 with more recent versions of Firefox and Chrome browsers? I want to get some sense of what was already done before doing some testing myself. Not keen on repeat the disaster I had with 5.2.2.

ThinApp - no experience with, and migrating a ThinApp to Win10/Standalone desktop

Hi Guys,

 

First off, I have no working experience with ThinApp but am familiar with App-V/AppVolumes etc.

 

We're migrating from View to physical desktops (don't ask why!) and we've got a handful of ThinApp packages that our previous desktop architect put together. These have been running on Win 7 64bit VM's. One particular app is v. small (looks like a simple excel-style database form with a ODBC connection to a SQL db that is 25mb in size!) and as it's used by 1 person, we would like to do the following:

1. Move the database from our SQL cluster into a standalone SQL Express instance on the users desktop, completely localizing the app.

2. Migrate the thinapp to run on a Win10 desktop with O2016.


Unfortunately (unless we can somehow 'unpack' a thinapp and see it's source files) we don't have the original install files for this so (and I'm hazarding a guess here) that we can:

 

1. Edit the current thinapp package with a new ODBC connection string..?

2. Do we need to install a client ThinApp package - or some software to ensure the thinapps can run on the client device?

3. Copy/move the ThinApp 'source packages' or 'binaries' (these currently sit on a network share in EU, but we'll want them on a file server or desktop in another region) - I've no idea what the difference is between these folders....any help here would be appreciated.

 

So, any ideas guys? I've read the thinapp install guide but it's littered with technical depth on how virtualisaiton works etc- I just need black and white advice on how to shift/unpack/update a thinapp . I doubt there's much modification needed here...

ThinApp 5.2.4 problems

1. Little problem

Thinapp update does not work. The message: Thinapp 5.2.4 older as installed version.

 

2. Big problem

I made virtual application on Windows 7. The original application third party, very old and using Microsoft VM and ODBC.

Running on Windows 10 1709 it is very stable, works well.

Running on Windows 10 1803 after awhile crashes. The errors: AppHangB1, StackHash_5d8e, PCH_EA_FROM_ntdll + 0x0006A81C,

Buffer Overflow Exception.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has packaged the Interaction Windows client in VMWare ThinApp? I'm new to building ThinApps in VMWare, and probably jumped into a bit of a complicated app to package. My first attempt failed, and I'm working on a second attempt, but figured I'd throw out the question to see if anyone has any input.

Registry Entries on running ThinApp Capture

i am testing using ThinApp to capture installations.  I also have "Advanced Uninstaller" installed to monitor any file/registry changes.

 

when i view the installation file after running the ThinApp exe from bin folder, it shows several registry entries.  Is this windows registry or a ThinApp virtual registry?

 

i cant have any registry items (even if temporary) installed or written to the windows system.  Can someone explain running ThinApp captured exe as it relatred to writting to windows registry, is this avoidable at all?

 

thanks for any help.

 

update: after looking closer at the entries, they seen to be basic windows entries, not sure why they appear when running  a captured exe in bin folder... (see screenshot)
