Compatibility with Apps Which Rely on AutoCAD

I was just wondering if anyone has experience using applications such as: ProCAD, CADWorx, Bentley AutoPlant, etc which rely on an AutoCAD installation. All of these programs rely on a AutoCAD installation, and it needs to be installed to work. Some programs require a specific version of AutoCAD to work. IE ProCAD 2012 is not compatible to AutoCAD 2013(which we are moving to).

Here are a couple of questions I have:

1. Can you package AutoCAD 2012 & ProCAD into one "app"? Or do you need to package AutoCAD and ProCAD as separate "silos".

2. How do people manage performance issues? Do the .EXEs get copied locally to each desktop? Or does this work well enough to point a shortcut back to the EXE on a network share?
