packaging a windows 2003 service to run on windows 2008

Hello,

I am trying to package a service that runs on windows 2003 to be able to run it on windows 2008.

On the win2003 server, I did a pre-scan, installed the service, and then ran a post scan, I then uncommented the service in the ini file and created the package. 

On the win2008 server, I ran the thinreg tool to register the package, but the service did not get installed. According to the documentation, this should have installed the service.

Any ideas?
